Yes, it's sadly, simply true that I've always had a thing about games. They long precede and have survived literature, the novel, in my life. Games are a bit reptilian, in that way.

Naturally, after writing that, I had to grab some book from the shelf and launch right in, just to feel a bit better about it all. But the bookshelves are now such a deep, confused historical archive of ancient adventures and vanished enthusiasms that I just cannot find my copy of Joseph Conrad's Nostromo. No matter, most of those paperbacks I bought in the later 1970s were printed on such acidic paper that I'm out-living their readability. Some, the results are worse than eating crackers in bed. No curling up with them. So I downloaded an ePub for my Sony Reader.
